Sustainable Aging: TALK about it!

by Joanna on May 17, 2012

To talk (or not to talk) that is the question … and the answer from many corners is that it is helpful  to TALK about aging.   Here’s an article that affirms that:     http://newoldage.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/04/therapy-of-a-different-sort/

But I have to confess that one dear friend, when  I got into my favorite conversation about how it helps the family and everyone to have had conversations  about death and how I really want to have family around me when I die — maybe a home funeral and so forth,  said very clearly to me – that is NOT her thing!    Got it!

I’m truly not expecting everyone to be as into this idea as I am! A nick name affectionately given me and used whenever I get jazzed about an idea is : “Crusader Rabbit.”  It reminds me to take a breath and remember that people do things many different ways.  Yes- I think it’s important to have lots of conversations, but not everyone does!
