Oh my! A good friend told me he was sending me an article that reports that a distinct purpose helps to slow down loss from Alzheimer’s Disease… well that sounds good to me. I was planning on referring to it today but the envelope arrived without anything inside! Funny. I phoned my friend and he is going to try to track down what happened and get me a copy. It wasn’t in the New York Times or some other easy to access journal. Soooooooo– I’ll have to wait on that one.
In the meantime- having had a grandmother who surely would have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and a Mom for whom it was a huge fear, I will keep working away on my causes. My mother died at 70 of cancer and thus Alzheimer’s did not have a chance. One thing I have is plenty of purpose and more causes than I’ll ever have time for! I’m not complaning. AND I confess that a friend is waiting for me to arrive out in Hancock, New York while I try to write a few words before I get on the road! I won’t write any more today.
Please if you get a chance – have a look at some of the excellent articles I’ve mentioned in earlier blogs or on the resources page.

You are terrific! What a brilliant concept, Joanna!
We are actually in the process of updating our wills and end-of-life directives. Unfortunately, the entire process and all that goes ino it is complex – no way around all the possible scenarios in life! You are wise to recognize that this is a unique and defined phase of life – full of new challenges and experiences – and self-definitions. Some of our peers are “old” others seem still in their primes. Some are retiring – others finding new careers. Regardless, the clock is winding down as we surely know we have more years behind us than lie ahead! A disturbing realization for sure!
Both my husband and I are still employed full time and activei n other activities – teaching, volunteer work, etc. and remain avid skiers too!
so glad you two great folks have got together. thank you for doing this good work, it’s such a benefit for our community.
